What do we need or are looking for?

We accept formal dresses and pant-sets (no separates) for high-schoolers to young adult, and moms to grandmas.  We are looking for items that are in their current season of shoppers and needs. Dressy pants must be in a that was sold together as a designer set.  Spring to fall is wedding season and summer needs - Brides,  bridal parties, mother-of, and grandmother of.  We do have wedding guest items for formal or black-tie weddings but are stepping away from casual to semi-formal.  We do not do well with pre-teen styles and fits.

 

School year is when we are in need of junior styles for dances during the school year such as homecoming, winter formals, Sadie-Hopkins, Sno-balls, prom, spring formals, and graduations.  These types of items do not sell in the same manner in the summer months; especially with adult galas and balls also being in the fall and spring months.  Check into Plato's Closet or Uptown Cheapskate for teen & juniors simple semi-formal dresses that are more casual or for school/church or non-dance style events.

We only accept store quality brands on up, to include brands sold at large department stores and bridal store brands.  We now will NOT accept Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Ann Klein, Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, Bebe, and similar (especially in short/cocktail dresses) unless it is true formalwear, not casual, semi-formal, or work wear.  See the list below for many brands/sites.

 

Fargo has My Best Friend's Closet and Clothes Mentor for casual dresses and sets, work/career style dresses, and simple day dresses/maxi dresses and more casual or career shoes.  Check into Plato's Closet or Uptown Cheapskate for teen & juniors semi-formal dresses that are casual for non-dance style events.  Give them a call or check out their websites for detail.

We are competing with quality stores and items, and NOT online sites that you cannot try on from or return to. We need items within 3-4 year of wear dates. We need to stay with current trends and styles as that is what our shoppers are seeking.  We do not want to see brands, tags, or items from 8+ years ago. 

 

We also accept formal accessories such as veils, purses, sash/belts, jewelry, hair pieces shawls/boleros.  No bras, shapewear, crinolines, or bride robes/t-shists/totes are accepted.

Formal shoes will be considered, but do not take casual or career.  Shoes must be cleaned up and less than 3.5" heel if not wedge or block heels. Tall shoes and stilettoes do not sell well, if at all.

Bridesmaids dresses will only be accepted based on brand, used vs. new, size, color, straps, material, re-wear category, and our known chance of selling. If there is no tag present inside, we will not accept it (unless you can show receipt from valid store on our list).  We will only consider accepting AZAZIE if it is new with tag; and no longer accept Birdy Grey.  Revelry is accepted.

What we cannot or will not not accept:

We do not accept men's, children's, or decor.  For kids, check with Once Upon a Child and Kinder Closet in Fargo.  I do not have recommendations for men's, other than selling on large online platforms or donation to your favorite local or church thrift store.

We will not accept any small store or boutique brands; nor many fast-fashion items. Examples are Forever 21, Lucy in the Sky,and Francesca's.  These are thin, cheap, and low price items and may look cute, but do not sell.

 

We absolutely will not accept direct from China brands!  If they are offering "custom made for you" and a gazillion colors to chose from, be weary.  Many have large scrolling banners with huge percentages off, buy so many for $50/100/150 off, prices crossed out with new price next to it, and a currency change drop down with every country imaginable.

• AMAZON Third-Party (Not "Prime" marked items) are China based sold items with ever-changing seller names and prices. These are known not to complete returns, have no item information, and are also denied consignment.
